Managing Partner
Claude Germain
Mr. Germain is the Founder and Managing Partner of Rouge River Capital, a holding company focused on acquiring controlling stakes in private midmarket Canadian companies. Since 2009, Mr. Germain has acquired over 15 companies, and controls a diversified portfolio of strong operating businesses generating over $500 million in revenues.

Mr. Germain has extensive governance experience, and is currently a Chairman or Board Director on various public and private corporate Boards including The Canada Post Corporation, Fleet Complete (a global leader in telematics and connected vehicle technology), as well as a number of other private firms controlled by Mr. Germain and Rouge River Capital.

Prior to Rouge River, Mr. Germain served as President and CEO of large transportation related businesses. Mr. Germain started his career as a management consultant for The Boston Consulting Group. Mr. Germain is a multiple winner of Canadian Executive of the Year in Logistics.
Mr. Germain holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Engineering Physics (Nuclear) from Queen’s University.

Mark MacTavish
Mr. MacTavish is a Managing Partner at Rouge River Capital. He has over 25 years of experience as an investor and advisor both professionally and personally in numerous industries and asset classes. Mr. MacTavish spent 20+ years in senior leadership and investing roles building a highly successful institutional middle market private equity organization in Toronto and New York. As an investor, Mr. MacTavish invests personal capital in select lower middle market businesses and certain non-private equity asset classes. Mr. MacTavish sits on several operating company and philanthropic Boards as well as on Investment Committees and Advisory Boards for select private equity investment entities.
From 2000 to 2021, Mr. MacTavish held various senior leadership positions at ONCAP, the North American middle market private equity platform of Onex Corporation, in Toronto and New York. Mr. MacTavish joined ONCAP as one of the four founding hires responsible for identifying, analyzing, negotiating, executing and monitoring North American private equity investments, cumulatively representing in excess of $2.5 bn of equity capital, 30 platform investments, 150+ add-on investments, and over twenty investment professionals. Prior to ONCAP Mr. MacTavish held private equity positions at Lehman Brothers in New York and J.H. Whitney & Company in Connecticut.
Mr. MacTavish holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a B. Comm from Queen's University.
Managing Partner
Alex Walker
Mr. Walker is a Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Rouge River Capital. Mr. Walker’s primary focus is on providing hands-on executive stewardship to portfolio businesses, notably as President of Seaport Intermodal and Harlyn Transport. Mr. Walker has extensive board and C-Level operating experience, and specializes in growing, restructuring and exiting businesses, with an emphasis on strategic M&A.
Prior to Rouge River Capital, Mr. Walker was Founder and Managing Director of Blackmore Partners, a financial advisory firm based in Chicago and Toronto where he led successful transactions in manufacturing, and fulfillment services. Over the past 20 years, Mr. Walker has served as Chairman, President and CEO of public and private technology and manufacturing businesses. These include electronics manufacturer SMTC (NASD: SMTX), where he initiated several acquisitions and drove record results. He was President and CEO of Ecosystem, Kili Technologies and Cube Route where he spearheaded the growth, financing and exits for each business. He has served as CFO and COO for several other businesses, leading successful turnarounds and exits. Mr. Walker began his career in investment banking and management consulting in New York and Chicago.
